Turkish members of the tribe Desmophorini J. Thomson (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Lamiinae) with new records and new host plants

Abstract : The detection of cerambycids and their detailed distribution data and feeding preferences within the natural ecosystems is of great ecological and economic importance. Accordingly, the paper presents all taxa of Turkish Desmophorini with new data on their distribution and feeding preferences collectively. It is determined that Turkish Desmophorini includes five species-group taxa of two genera. Accordingly, the distribution range of three of five species-group taxa is expanded by determining new provincial records for them. Anaesthetis anatolica Holzschuh for Adana province, Anaesthetis testacea rufescens Baeckmann for Artvin, Gümüşhane, Ordu, Sivas and Tokat provinces and therefore Central Anatolian region of Turkey, and Deroplia genei genei (Aragona) for Antalya province are recorded for the first time. In addition, a total of two of five species-group taxa of Turkish Desmophorini were originally described from Turkey as Anaesthetis anatolica Holzschuh and Deroplia troberti orientalis Özdikmen & Tezcan. Among them, only Deroplia troberti orientalis Özdikmen & Tezcan is still endemic to Turkey. Therefore, endemism ratio of Turkish Desmophorini species-group taxa is 20%. Moreover, some new host plants were determined for two of five species-group taxa as Anaesthetis anatolica Holzschuh and Anaesthetis testacea rufescens Baeckmann of Turkish Desmophorini in the present study. Host plants of all species-group taxa of Turkish Desmophorini are provided. Apparently, the members of Turkish Desmophorini are polyphagous in deciduous trees and shrubs.
