Turkish members of the genus Rhagium Fabricius (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Lepturinae) with new host plants
Abstract : The detection of cerambycids and their feeding preferences within the natural ecosystems is of great ecological and economic importance. Accordingly, the paper presents all taxa of Turkish Rhagium with new data on their feeding preferences and distribution patterns collectively. The available specimens were collected from various localities in Turkey between April and September in 1989¬-2023. It is determined that Turkish Rhagium includes three species-group taxa of one species. Host plant for Rhagium inquisitor schtschukini Semenov is determined for the first time as Pinaceae (Picea orientalis Carrière and Pinus sylvestris Linnaeus). In addition, the host range of Rhagium inquisitor fortipes Reitter is expanded by determining two new host plants as Cupressaceae (Juniperus excelsa Bieberstein), and Pinaceae (Cedrus libani A. Richard). On the other side, the known data on the distribution of Rhagium inquisitor inquisitor (Linnaeus) in Turkey has been improved with a new provincial record.
