Replacement names for two preoccupied butterfly genus group names (Lepidoptera: Papilionoidea)

Abstract :

Two junior homonyms were detected amongst the butterfly genus group names and the following replacement names are proposed: Neofieldia nom. nov. for Fieldia Niculescu, 1979 and Ahmetia nom. nov. for Cowania Eliot, 1973. Accordingly, new combinations are herein proposed for the species currently included in these genus group names respectively: Vanessa (Neofieldia) carye (Hübner, [1812]) comb. nov. and Ahmetia achaja (Frühstorfer, 1912) comb. nov.
