Proposition of three new subgenera of the genus Anaglyptus Mulsant (Cerambycidae: Cerambycinae)

Abstract : The paper presents a taxonomic evaluation on subgeneric arrangement of the genus Anaglyptus Mulsant. Accordingly, Anaglyptus (Akajimatora) Kusama & Takakuwa is regarded as a separate genus as Akajimatora Kusama & Takakuwa. Also, Anaglyptus (Aglaophis) J. Thomson is reinstated to genus level as Aglaophis J. Thomson reins., and its synonym generic names Aglaophis (Metaglaophis) Ohbayashi and Epodus Chevrolat are validated and regarded as separate subgenera of the reinstated genus Aglaophis J. Thomson as Aglaophis (Metaglaophis) Ohbayashi reins. and Aglaophis (Epodus) Chevrolat stat. nov.. In addition, a total of 6 species that were placed in the nominate subgenus of the genus Anaglyptus Mulsant, 1839 previously, are transferred to the reinstated genus Aglaophis J. Thomson. Consequently, all subgenera proposed here of Aglaophis J. Thomson are presented with some species that were previously placed to the subgenera, Anaglyptus (Aglaophis) J. Thomson and the nominate subgenus Anaglyptus (Anaglyptus) Mulsant. On the other side, Anaglyptus (Aglaophisoides) subgen. nov., Anaglyptus (Maculiglyptus) subgen. nov. and Anaglyptus (Variiglyptus) subgen. nov. are proposed, described and presented with some species that were previously placed to the nominate subgenus, Anaglyptus (Anaglyptus) Mulsant.
