Peculiarities of Exorista larvarum (Linnaeus, 1758) (Diptera: Tachinidae) parasitization on larvae of phytophagous butterflıes on hazelnut
Abstract : The following representatives of the order Lepidoptera damaging hazelnut tree were found in Azerbaijan: American fall webworm (Erebidae: Hyphantria cunea Drury, 1773), brown-tail moth (Erebidae: Euproctis chrysorrhoea Linnaeus, 1758), gypsy moth (Erebidae: Lymantria dispar Linnaeus, 1758, winter moth (Geometridae: Operophtera brumata Linnaeus, 1758), nut leaf blister moth (Gracillariidae: Phyllonorycter coryli Nicelli, 1851), nut-tree tussock (Noctuidae: Colocasia coryli). In Azerbaijan, the bioecological characteristics of Exorista larvarum (Linnaeus, 1758) (Díptera, Tachinidae), a relatively widespread and effective parasitoid, were studied. The bioecological characteristics of this parasitoid were studied in order to assess its potential role in the regulation of populations of Hyphantria cunea, Euproctis chrysorrhoea, and Lymantria dyspar. The number of H. cunea and tachinid flies was calculated in two regions of Azerbaijan, differing in the time of the hosts' settlement. In nature, this parasitoid can lay 10 eggs per caterpillar, while under laboratory conditions it can lay 30 eggs. The infection rate of the first generation of H. cunea by E. larvarum remained virtually unchanged in the Guba-Khachmaz region during 2017-2023 and amounted to %10. The infection rate of the second generation was %8. In the Absheron region, the rate of infection is increasing.
