On morphology and taxonomy of Microcyclops rubellus (Lilljeborg, 1901) (Crustacea: Copepoda: Cyclopidae)

Abstract : Morphology of female of Microcyclops rubellus is described, and taxonomy and distribution are discussed. M. rubellus is mainly characterized by: the ornamentation of the anal somite (posterior margin bearing a row of 10-12 larger ventral spinules and smaller lateral spinules); by its caudal rami 2.5-3.0 times as long as wide; by the endopodite 2 of P4 2.0-2.5 times longer than wide; by the presence of spinules at the insertions of Te; by presence of 9 setae on 3A2. Confirmed records are from France, England, Germany, Italy, Austria, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, north Africa, Central Asia.
