New host record of Stenhomalus (Obriopsis) bicolor yazelae (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) in Kahramanmaraş province: Juniper (Juniperus sp.)

Abstract : Juniper (Juniperus sp.) is a resilient plant species that can withstand the most difficult climatic conditions such as drought and frost, grows in high mountainous areas, forest borders, evergreen, shallow, and unfavorable soils, and is widely found in our forest areas with its various species. In our country, juniper species are found mainly in the Mediterranean region. While it was determined that Stenhomalus (Obriopsis) bicolor yazelae Özdikmen, 2019 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) was harmful to the juniper tree in the Onikisubat district of Kahramanmaraş province in the Mediterranean region in 2024, it is the first record on the juniper plant for our country and Kahramanmaraş province. This study determined the distribution, morphology, and hosts of the S. bicolor yazelae subspecies and their damage pattern on Juniper.
