New host plant record of Anthaxia brevis (Coleoptera: Buprestidae): Juniper (Juniperus sp.)

Abstract : Juniper (Juniperus sp.) is a resilient plant species that can withstand the most difficult climatic conditions such as drought and frost, grows in high mountainous areas, forest borders, evergreen, shallow, and unfavorable soils, and is widely found in our forest areas with its various species. In our country, juniper species are found mainly in the Mediterranean Region. It was determined that Anthaxia brevis (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) was harmful to the juniper tree (Juniperus sp.) in the Onikisubat district of Kahramanmaraş province in the Mediterranean Region in 2024 and it was determined that the Juniper (Juniperus sp.) plant was the new host of Anthaxia brevis. In this study, the distribution, morphology, hosts, and damage type of A. brevis were determined.
