New habitat records of velvet ant-mimicking spider Coenoptychus pulcher Simon, 1885 (Araneae: Corinnidae) from Eastern India with notes on morphology and distribution
Abstract :A new distributional record is reported here for the monotypic spider Coenoptychus pulcher Simon, 1885, from the Corinnidae family. The record registers the presence of the species from the Chota Nagpur Plateau region including distribution reports from Jharkhand and Odisha states of Eastern India against its previously described range from different states in the Deccan peninsula of India and Sri Lanka. Previously, it was recorded from coastal regions but here we reported it from Shorea robusta dominated forest and grassland of Eastern India.
