New family and genus names, Briggsidae nom. nov. and Briggsus nom. nov., for the harvestmen (Opiliones: Laniatores)

Abstract :

A junior homonym was detected amongst the harvestmen genus group names and the following replacement name is proposed: Briggsus nom. nov. for Pentanychus Briggs, 1971. Accordingly, new combinations are herein proposed for the species currently included in this genus. Briggsus bilobatus (Briggs, 1971) comb. nov.; Briggsus clavatus (Briggs, 1971) comb. nov.; Briggsus flavescens (Briggs, 1971) comb. nov.; Briggsus hamatus (Briggs, 1971) comb. nov. and Briggsus pacificus (Briggs, 1971) comb. nov. In addition, we propose the replacement name Briggsidae new name for the family name Pentanychidae.
