Morphological description of the third instar larva of the rare genus Iranoidricerus (Abraham & Meszaros 2002) (Neuroptera: Ascalaphidae)

Abstract : The morphology of the larvae in the genus Iranoidricerus is not currently known. The morphology of third instar larvae of Iranoidricerus iranensis (Kimmins 1938) (Neuroptera: Ascalaphidae) is described and figured for the first time using light and scanning electron microscopy. The larvae and adult were collected in Hakkari Province, Turkey, and maintained in the laboratory. The different parts of third instar larvae such as head, mandibles, antennae, sensory receptors are described and illustrated.
