Evolution of Gammaridae literature: A scientometric study of global publications on Gammaridae between 1980 and 2020
Abstract :Gammaridae or gammarids are one of the most well-known and largest groups of the order Amphipoda (Crustacea). Bibliometrics is a popular scientific branch analyzing academic literature on a certain subject. As far as known, crustacean literature lacks bibliometric analysis of Gammaridae. In this study, four databases provided by Web of Science were used and all documents on Gammaridae published between 1980 and 2020 were included. 1554 published articles have been found worldwide. The most studied research area was detected to be Zoology, Environmental Sciences Ecology and Marine Freshwater Biology (n=1438, 1427 and 1316 items, respectively). English was the primary language of the Gammaridae literature (92.99%) and the United Kingdom was the leading country with 635 items followed by the France, Germany and USA (n=288, 214 and 170 items, respectively). Hydrobiologia, Freshwater Biology and Science of the Total Environment-The Science of the Total Environment were the top three source titles in Gammaridae literature (n=91, 52 and 50 items, respectively).
