Endemic species-group taxa of Chrysomeloidea in Turkey (Coleoptera) with chrological data
Abstract :A list of endemic 109 species and 14 subspecies of Chrysomeloidea of Turkey, corresponding to 12.65% of the whole (972 taxa), is reported in this paper. This percentage is clearly much lower than that of Cerambycoidea of Turkey (approximately 50%). The Alticinae, Cryptocephalinae, Chrysomelinae and Galerucinae with 44 (36.98%), 23 (18.70%), 19 (15.97%) and 13 (10.57%) endemic species-group taxa, respectively, contribute with the highest number of endemics. Two genera Cryptocephalus with 16 (13.01%) in the Cryptocephalinae and Chrysolina with 15 (12.20%) in the Chrysomelinae are strikingly prevailing, and in the Alticinae those of Longitarsus with 10 (8.13%) and Aeschrocnemis with 9 (7.32%) species-group taxa are the following ones. On the contrary, Alticinae, the subfamily with the highest number of Turkish species-group taxa, 355 (36.52%), shows 44 (35.77%) endemics. In addition, Pontic concept with 31 (25.20%) is strikingly prevailing, and the concepts Armenian with 21 (17.07%), Cappadocian with 20 (16.26%) and Iconian or Lycaonian with 20 (16.26%) species-group taxa are the following ones, according to the number of endemic species-group taxa of Turkish chrysomeloids separated by classical regions. These four concepts together with 73 different species-group taxa gather almost 60% of the total endemic species-group taxa. Moreover, two species, Chrysolina abchasica Weise and Aphthona bergeali Fritzlar, which were regarded endemic in previous studies, were removed from the updated endemic species-group list of Turkey.
