Abstract : Chestnut is an important non-wood forest product for our country. Forest villagers earn income with honey obtained from both its nut and flowers. The most important pests of chestnut trees in the world and in our country are chestnut gall wasp and chestnut blight. The chestnut gall wasp [Dryocosmus kuriphilus (Yasumatsu, 1951) (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae)] was firstly seen in Yalova, Türkiye in 2014 and it has been spread Aegean, Karadeniz and Marmara Regions in ten years. In this study, the damage rate of chestnut gall wasp in forests of Ordu province was revealed. For this purpose, 10 sampling areas were determined and 10 trees were examined in each sampling area in May 2023. Coordinate, elevation, aspect, tree diameter and slope position of the sampling areas were recorded. Galls on twig 50 cm from the twig tip in all four directions of each tree were counted and recorded. At the end of the study, the number of galls was determined above the economic damage level in all sampling areas.
