Comparison the efficacy of Spinosad SC24% (Sponser) with conventional insecticides against Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) (Lep: Noctuidae) in field condition

Abstract :

Tomato fruit borer, Helicoverpa armigera Hubner (Lep: Noctuidae), is a key pest of tomato plant in Iran. Insecticides are the main tool to its control, therefore, recommendation the new safe and eco-friendly insecticides are important in IPM program of the pest. In this research, the efficacy of Spinosad SC 24% at two concentration (120 and 150 ml/ha) was compared with conventional insecticides including Indoxacarb SC15% (250 ml/ha), Imonet SC %15 (300 ml/ha), Trichlorofen SP80 %( 2kg/ha) along with Control treatment (no spraying) in Fars, Hormzgan and Bousher provinces in Iran. All insecticides were significantly effective against H. armigera over untreated treatment. In mentioned provinces, average larval mortality percent in Spinosad at 120 ml/ha were 98.67, 76.86, 96, 1 percent respectively, While, in Spinosad at 150 ml/ha were 100, 81.6 and 100 percent respectively. Percentage of mean infested fruits in control treatment were 23.5% and in Spinosad treatment at 120 and 150 ml/ha were 3.5 and 2.25% respectively. In conclusion, using Spinosad SC24% in rotation with conventional insecticides is a good strategy for the control of H. armigera and management resistant process in the pest in long term.
