Aulacophora cincta (Fab.) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae): a new pest reported from jasmine; Jasminum sambac (L.)
Abstract : The study on the incidence of Aulacophora cincta (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) on jasmine; Jasminum sambac (L.) was carried out in 2021-22 at Chiplima, Odisha, India. This study provides some preliminary details on their identification, seasonal incidence, host plants, diurnal characteristic and damage. Regarding seasonal incidence it was noticed that their peak incidence occurred on 44th SMW (29th October- 4th November). The correlation studies between A. cincta population and weather parameters showed that the maximum and minimum temperature had positively correlated whereas, negatively correlated with morning relative humidity, evening relative humidity and rainfall. Regression analysis showed that rainfall significantly contributed more than 41% variation to the high population build-up of the A. cincta on jasmine.
