An updated checklist of aphids infesting campanulids (Angiosperms: Eudicots: Asterids: Euasterids) flowering plants in India

Abstract : The campanulids is a subclade of the clade asterids of eudicot flowering plants comprising seven orders. The results demonstrated the association of 217 species of aphids belonging to 81 genera with 231 species of plants belonging to 139 genera included in 9 families and 4 orders, Apiales, Aquifoliales, Asterales, and Dipsacales. Among the aphids infesting campanulids, Aphis (Aphis) gossypii Glover was found highly polyphagous feeding 89 species of plants followed by Aphis (Aphis) spiraecola Patch (78 species), Brachycaudus (Brachycaudus) helichrysi (Kaltenbach) (77 species), Myzus (Nectarosiphon) persicae (Sulzer) (50 species), Myzus (Myzus) ornatus Laing (42 species), Aphis (Aphis) craccivora Koch, and Aphis (Aphis) craccivora Koch (29 species), and less than 20 species for other aphid species. The plants belonging to Asteraceae (168 species) are maximally associated with 186 species of aphids followed by Apiaceae (28 species by 27 species of aphids), and other families with less than 15 species of plants.
