An annotated checklist of avifauna from Gujarat Forestry Research Foundation, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India
Abstract :The aim of this study was to document the occurrence of avifauna diversity from March 2021 to March 2022 in the Gujarat Forestry Research Foundation located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The GFRF is a training and research division for forest officers. The GFRF is preferred habitat for avifauna due to large number of trees, limited anthropogenic activity, and dense forest. A total of 117 bird species from 16 orders and 51 families have been documented in this region. Due to its incredible diversity, the order Passeriformes was at the top of the heap. All of the species found are in the least concerning category of IUCN. The GFRF campus also includes a total of 19 migratory species. This research will provide the Gujarat Forestry Research Foundation with baseline data on avifauna diversity and conservation strategies.
