An annotated catalogue: Cerambycoidea (Cerambycidae and Vesperidae) of Turkey (Coleoptera)

Abstract :

An annotated catalogue of Cerambycoidea (Cerambycidae and Vesperidae) in Turkey is presented with type information of valid species-group taxa. The catalogue is included a total of about 3574 names of taxa and 1190 primary references to the family-, genus- and species-groups names. According to the catalogue, Cerambycoidea of Turkey represents two families as Cerambycidae Latreille, 1802 and Vesperidae Mulsant, 1839. Cerambycoidea of Turkey contains a total of 1023 species-group taxa belonging to 137 genera of 55 tribes of 12 subfamilies in these two families. Cerambycidae family is represented with 1022 species-group taxa belonging to 136 genera of 54 tribes of 11 subfamilies, while Vesperidae family is represented with a single species belonging to a genus of a tribe. Parmena sericata that was described by Sama (1996a: 114) from NE Turkey (Artvin prov.: Borçka, Cankurtaran pass), is accepted for Turkish and Georgian populations connected with deciduous trees (Castanea sativa, Ficus carica and Malus domestica). Accordingly, I propose here the new name “Parmena samai” dedicated to the Late well-known cerambycidologist Gianfranco Sama (Italy) instead of Parmena sericata Sama, 1996 that is an unavailable name under the Art. 15.1: conditional proposal of ICZN. In addition, with the catalogue, 70 species-group taxa (55 species and 15 subspecies) that did not include from Turkey in Danilevsky (2020) are newly recorded from whole territory of Turkey. In addition, 11 species-group taxa (9 species and 2 subspecies) that were recorded only from European Turkey (Thrace) by Danilevsky (2020) are newly reported from Asian Turkey (Anatolia), while 6 species-group taxa (5 species and 1 subspecies) that were recorded only from Asian Turkey (Anatolia) by Danilevsky (2020) are newly reported from European Turkey (Thrace). Also, 64 references that were not included by Danilevsky (2020), are proposed to add to Palaearctic catalogue. In the catalogue, the number of species-group taxa of Cerambycoidea in Turkey is 1023 as mentioned above. Dorcadioninae subfamily with 331 species-group taxa has the highest number of taxa. Lamiinae subfamily follows it with 258 taxa. Lepturinae subfamily is in third place with 196 taxa, while Cerambycinae subfamily is in fourth place with 173 taxa. On the other side, the endemism rate of Cerambycoidea in Turkey is found very high with about 48 percent in the total evaluation. Dorcadioninae subfamily also has the highest endemism rate with approximately 80 percent. Apatophyseinae subfamily follows it with 75 percent endemism rate. Necydalinae subfamily is in third place with 50 percent endemism rate, while Lepturinae subfamily is in fourth place with about 42 percent endemism rate. In addition, the total taxa numbers of the species-group taxa described originally from Turkey of Cerambycoidea is 610. The taxa number consists of about 60 percent of the total species-group taxa of Cerambycoidea in Turkey. Dorcadioninae subfamily with 300 species-group taxa also has the highest number of taxa. Lamiinae subfamily follows it with 121 taxa. Lepturinae subfamily is in third place with 99 taxa, while Cerambycinae subfamily is in fourth place with 66 taxa.
