A taxonomic evaluation on the genus Aromia Audinet-Serville with proposition of a new subgenus and a rearrangement on its species-group taxa (Cerambycidae: Cerambycinae)
Abstract : The paper presents a taxonomic evaluation on subgeneric arrangement and rearrangement of species-group taxa of the genus Aromia Audinet-Serville on the base of the original descriptions of the taxa chiefly. As a result, Aromia (Aromiaoides) subgen. nov. is described and presented with some species-group taxa that were previously placed to the nominate subgenus, Aromia (Aromia) Audinet-Serville. The paper also presents a proposal on a new taxonomical arrangement of the species-group taxa of genus Aromia Audinet-Serville. The specific and subspecific compositions of the species-group taxa are discussed and arranged in the text. As a result of this, Aromia ambrosiaca (Steven) is upgraded species rank again. And in accordance with the status novum, three taxa as A. moschata cruenta Bogatchev, A. moschata jankovskyi Danilevsky, A. moschata malukhini Danilevsky and A. moschata vetusta Bogatchev are transferred as subspecies to species Aromia ambrosiaca (Steven). Aromia moschata rosarum P. H. Lucas, 1847 are proposed as a separate species from North Africa (as Aromia rosarum P. H. Lucas, 1847 rest. nov.). The synonym taxa, Aromia cyanicornis Guérin-Méneville and Cerambyx thoracicus Fischer von Waldheim, are restored and accepted as a separate species from E Asian and SW-Asiatic areas respectively (as Aromia cyanicornis Guérin-Méneville, 1844 stat. rest. and Aromia thoracica (Fischer von Waldheim, 1823 [1824]) stat. rest.).
