A new pest record for Diyarbakır and Mardin in south-eastern Anatolia region of Türkiye: Megastigmus aculeatus (Swederus, 1795) and Megastigmus rosae rosae on rosehip (Rosa canina L.) (Hymenoptera: Megastigmidae)
Abstract : The present study was carried out in Diyarbakır (Çermik and Sur districts) and Mardin (Artuklu district) provinces in South-Eastern Anatolia Region of Türkiye in 2019-2020. The fruits of Rosa canina L. (Rosaceae) were collected in Diyarbakir and Mardin provinces of Türkiye and were brought to the laboratory for rearing. The fruits were exposed at a temperature of 26±1°C, relative humidity of 65±5, and illumination of 3500 lux for 16 hours per day. Two species of phytophagous chalcid wasps of the family Megastigmidae (Chalcidoidea, Hymenoptera) were identified as developing inside seeds of rosehip (Rosa canina L.): Megastigmus aculeatus (Swederus, 1795) and Megastigmus rosae rosae (Boucek, 1971). M. aculeatus was identified as new record for the rosehip insect fauna in Diyarbakır and Mardin and M. rosae rosae in Mardin.
