Abstract :Strophomorphus sublaevigatus Desbrochers, 1875 (Coleoptera, Curculionidae) has been identified as a new pest on pistachio. It was observed that this pest started to make damage on UCB1 pistachio rootstocks, which were planted in November 2020 in Teketaşı village of Karkamış district of Gaziantep province in Turkey, on the first week of May; and that S. sublaevigatus population started to fall in number after May 20th and because of this the damage of the adults started to decrease as of this date. It was determined that the adults of S. sublaevigatus species damaged the leaves, causing bites in the shape of a half-moon specific to Curculionid species. It was observed that S. sublaevigatus makes damage on the pistachio, and it is polyphagous.
