A new pest in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.): Contarinia medicaginis Kieffer

Abstract :

In September 2022, Contarinia medicaginis Kieffer, 1895 (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) larvae were detected, which caused typical damage to the flowers of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) in Iğdır province of Eastern Anatolia Region. This pest was recorded as a pest of the alfalfa plant for the first time in Türkiye and digital photos were taken.
