A new oviposition technique for aquatic Heteroptera in laboratory

Abstract : Studying insect eggs is crucial for understanding biology, ecology, and agriculture. Insect eggs play a role in plant defense and the evolution of interactions between insects and plants. Understanding insect eggs is important for pest management and developing sustainable agricultural practices. Research on aquatic insect eggs is lacking, but studying them can provide insights into aquatic insect ecology. Obtaining and studying aquatic insect eggs in a laboratory is challenging. This study presents a new method for inducing aquatic Heteroptera species to lay eggs in a laboratory. The method involves using styrofoam as a substrate for egg deposition, providing a safe and reliable platform for studying egg development.
