A new attempt on the subgeneric composition of Chlorophorus Chevrolat, 1863 with descriptions of new subgenera (Cerambycidae: Cerambycinae)
Abstract :The paper presents a new arrangement on subgeneric composition of the genus Chlorophorus Chevrolat, 1863 with new subgenera. As a result of this, a total of 36 subgenera (including the nominotypical subgenus) are determined and described for the world fauna. Chlorophorus is a subcosmopolitan or cosmopolitan genus, and it is currently represented with 274 species and 7 subspecies worldwide. Of the 281 known species-group taxa of Chlorophorus, 242 (and 25 possible species) are evaluated in the present study, and they are placed into a total of 36 subgenera including 31 newly described subgenera. In addition, Chlorophorus castaneorufus (Fairmaire, 1895) is transferred to the genus Demonax Thomson as Demonax castaneorufus (Fairmaire, 1895) comb. nov. A key for subgenera of Chlorophorus is given at the end of present text. Known species-group taxa and their subgenera according to geographic regions in the world are also presented into lists at the end of present text.
