A comparitive study on the spide¬¬r fauna of two selected ecosystems from Thrissur, Kerala
Abstract : The present work attempts to study the spider diversity in two entirely different ecosystems. The study was conducted from October 2021 to March 2022 at Kodassery hills and Pullu kole wetlands, Thrissur, Kerala. Sampling methods such as ground hand collection, litter sampling, sweep net collection, beating and shaking methods were used to collect spider specimens. The study reported a total of 73 species of spiders. Kodassery hill is seen to be the area with great diversity and abundance. The Pullu kole wetlands have seen comparatively low levels of diversity and also abundance. Kodassery hills came with 66 species from 16 families whereas Pullu kole wetlands had only 53 species from 13 families. 47 species commonly observed from the both sites.
